STEPHEN T. GOLDING
Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration
Stephen Golding serves as the Samuel W. Bodman Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration for Cornell University. The Executive Vice President is the chief administrative support officer of the University, under the President, with responsibility for directing finance and administrative services in support of academic programs.
Steve joined Cornell in the spring of 2005, coming from the University of Colorado system, for which he served as Vice President for Budget and Finance and CFO. Before going to Colorado, he was with Morgan Stanley Investment Management for six years as head of eleemosynary, or philanthropic, marketing and client services. Previous to that, Steve was Vice President for Finance and CFO at the University of Pennsylvania from 1994 to 1997; he had joined the Penn administration in 1991 as Executive Director of Resource Planning and Budget.
Steve also served in state government in Delaware, first as Director of Administration in the Department of Transportation from 1981 to 1983 and then as the state's budget director and then Secretary of Finance from 1983 to 1991, positions in which he reported to two successive governors, Pierre Samuel "Pete" DuPont and Michael N. Castle, who now represents the state in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He currently serves on the Board of Visitors and Governors for Washington College, and is an ex-officio member of the National Association of State Budget Officers. Steve received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Washington College in 1972 and a Masters of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Delaware in 1982.
Steve is married to Carolyn (Cally) Golding and they have two grown children.
